The Rock's Birth

Initially, rock'n'roll is a movement stemming from the blues and the American black rhythm & blues. The term rock appears when white people appropriate the style. The first practitioners of the genre are called Bill Haley (and his huge hit “Rock around the clock”), Chuck Berry, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Jerry lee Lewis, Eddy Cochran etc. The themes developed at the time are very much associated with adolescence and working life.

> The Instruments <

Several typical musical instruments are used and played in rock music. The voice is one of the oldest instruments, it is characterized as dominant in rock songs.

The voice is often accompanied by one or more electric guitars, a bass guitar and a drums of a saxophone and a piano Depending on the different kinds ofrock......

Protestor !

It was in the 60s and 70s, with the appearance of large groups and icons (Elvis Prestley, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Doors), that the genre opened up to the general public. At the time, he was intimately linked to the most advanced schools of thought, and he was amused by a provocative attitude little concerned with the prevailing conformism. Rock is then the popular instrument par excellence of social protest.

Lorem ipsum

In the 1960s, young European artists, especially young Brits, took over from the American rockers. Rock'n'roll first took root in England: the year 1962 was marked by both the first concert of the Rolling Stones and the first hit of the Beatles: Love me do. The Beatles then stare at the canons of this music that is now called rock.

Hard Rock

The hard rock component benefits from the opening of the studios. Logical consequence of this multiplication of records: the appearance of many subgenres. The best known hard-core bands are ACDC, (Guns N' Roses), Scorpions, Aerosmith, and of course Led Zeppelin. The genre is radicalized with an increasing emphasis placed on virtuosity and speed of execution, especially of the solo guitarist and the drummer, heavy atmospheres (Wishbone Ash, Def Leppard, Kiss) and themes that are often inspired by satanism.

80' & 90's

Reconnecting with the origins of rock'n'roll, the punk wave (The Sex Pistols, The Clash) carries the demands raised by the growing social crisis in Britain in the late 1970s. This brutal and destructive revolt gave way in the early 1980s to the new wave, a rock style open to other forms of music and willingly using new instruments such as synthesizers (Talking Heads, Television,Ultravox,XTC).

...

At the same time, rock music incorporates the new contributions of black music: funk (James Brown, George Clinton), soul (Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner), disco (Chic, Georgio Moroder) and reggae (Bob Marley).

"Indie Rock"

Independent rock, often shortened to indie rock, is a musical classification that appeared in the late 1970s in the United Kingdom as a result of the upheaval caused by the emergence of the punk movement.

This seditious spirit present since the birth of rock in the mid-1950s is still alive in the 1960s with the hippies movement, then in the late 1970s with the punk movement. This role seems to have been taken up over the last fifteen years by rap, but in reality, rock has never renounced its rebel roots. Rock is no longer just a musical movement and the social basis of the movement is rebellion against the established order. There is also «danced» rock. Indeed, some of the dances date back to the 1920s, 1930s and even 1940s, such as lindy hop, jitterbug, 6-stroke swing called today 6-stroke rock, boogie-woogie, be-bop, jive, or four-stroke rock, born at the same time as rock 'n' roll music, which is the first couple dance with a basic step 1, 2, 3 and 4. There are also solo rock dances, such as madison.
