The causative

have and get

the causative

We use the causative to talk about something that someone did for us or for another person. It is often used for services.Example:A janitor cleaned my house.I had my house cleaned by a janitor. (caustive) A barber cuts Paul's hair. Paul has his hair cut by a barber. (causative)

Have + object + past participle

Examples: I had my car washed. Julie will have her house painted.

GET + OBJECT + PAST PARTICIPLE

This construction means the same as the "have" one, but it's more informal. Examples: I'll get my computer repaired next week. My sister got her nails done.

Have someone do something (have + person + infinitive)

We can also use the construction "have + person + infinitive". This is very similar to the previous forms, but this time we say who does/did/will do the action for us. Examples: I had my brother do my homework. Claire will have Sophie write her an essay

Get someone to do something (get + person + to + infinitive)

This construction means the same as the previou one, but it's more informal. Sometimes, this form give us the feeling that we convinced someone to do the action. Examples: I got my dad to buy me a new skateboard. I will get my cousin to do the dishes.
