THE SITUATION BEFORE
Tea's growers countries receive very low and unstable incomes for their products.
Underpayment pushes them into a further and serious poverty.
In 2005 the economic situation became extremely difficult in Kenya.

WORK CONDITIONS
Discriminations, sexual harassment and explotation of women workers are widespread.
Women often work longer hours for lower wages than men.
FAIRTRADE STANDARDS
Designed to improve employment conditions, protect the rights of workers and increase their income
Fairtrade certified producers receive a Minimum Price for their tea.
It acts as a safety net against the unpredictable market.
THE FAIRTRADE PREMIUM
EDUCATION
An additional sum of money which goes into a communal fund for workers to improve the conditions of their lives, their priorities and their aspirations.
