definition

Fairy tales are told from generation to generation . We all know almost every fairy tale like Snow white and the 7 dwarfs or cindrealla or the sleeping beauty and at the end of all these fairy tale we have the sentence "they lived happily ever after" . With the revisit of one of this fairy tale we can imagine the "after", I mean we all wanted to know what happened after the end . Revesiting a fairy tale it's just a way to write a story in " a different way" : we can imagine another end or we can change something in the fairy tale .With the example that i am going to give you, you will unterstand what i mean when I say " in a different way " . The revesit can also criticize something or fight against something .

little red riding wolf

2)

by Roald Dahl in 1982

I choose this tale by Roald Dahl because I really like the retelling, in the original tale the little red riding hood is defenceless, she needed help so she called the woodcutter BUT in the revisit she can defend herself and also kill to survive. I think it's a beautiful message, a feminist message, that shows that girls don't need a man to come to their rescue . This tale fight against stereotypes and for this reason i really like the retelling . And I hope that in the future we will see or read more fairy tale like this one !

SNOWY

by Dina Goldstein in 2008

I also really like this photography by Dina Goldstein because it's just a simple picture but it means a lot. Here we can see an " after" of the sentence "they lived happily ever after". It turned into a nightmare . Dina Goldstein wants to show us that happy endings don't really exist in real life. Here too the photograph wants to fight against the stereotype that says that women had to do everything at home and men can just chill and relax, as we can see in the picture.

The huntsman and the ice queen

by Cédric Nicolas-Troyan

It is a movie poster of the film "The huntsman and the ice queen" . I didn't watch the film and the movie poster is great but it doesn't make me want to watch the film .It is a revisit of the the tale " Snow white and the 7 dwarfs " and we can see that it is a retelling because we didn't see the 7 dwarfs and the huntsman is an important character in the movie because his head looks bigger than the 2 other one.

4) My personal documents :

The three little pigs :

by the youtube channel "HISHE kids " in 2015

Here we have a short video realised by the youtube channel " HISHE kids ", with this video we can tell that it is a revisit of the tale " The three little pigs" . I think this document could be a good addition to this chapter because in the original tale the three little pigs are defenceless but in the video they are REALLY violent , they set up some traps to fight the wolf. We can say that it is a revisit .

" What kind of man are you ? "

by Alexsandro plombo

The artist Alexsandro Palambo decided to represent the Walt Disney princess beaten by their husbands. In the picture we can see that Snow white looks sad , she is bleeding and of course when she is in front of people she has to smile and try to show that everything is ok . Her husband is smiling and he is giving her a hug but when they are alone he hits her. As we can see it is a revisit . The artist wants to fight against the violence against women, he aims to sensitize the public .This document is my favorite one, and i think i could be a additon to our chapter .

In conclusion, i loved this chapter because it was very interesting and we worked on many themes. This chapter reminded me my childhood and , I absolutely loved when whe worked on Dina Goldstein ' picture , and I loved how she decided to represent real issues with imaginary characters ( ex breast cancer with Rapunzel ) .
