Are love and marriage always easy? Discuss with your neighbour, and find some reasons why love and marriage aren’t always easy or allowed.

Learning about the period: Read the document and answer the following questions (do not write the questions). 1) What were the technological advancement during the Victorian era? 2) What was Victoria’s reign characterised by? 3) What were the strict moral standards people had to follow during the Victorian Era? 4) Were there social classes during the Victorian Era? Explain 5) Was love necessary to marry someone? Explain 6) In the text, find examples of the hypocrisy of the Victorian society.

You have read The Importance of Being Earnest. Create a map of the characters of the play in your notebook, putting the main character in the centre. Give information about the characters, and explain their relationships with one another. (Use your book for help!)
