Speekoo is a language-learning mobile application launched in 2015 by a passionate language learner, that aims to give the learners the chance to improve their English skills out of a classroom. It can be accessed from any device (Smartphone, iPad, iPhone, PC, Tablet...).

This app offers 6 languages for now: French, Spanish, Italian, German, Chinese and Japanese, each one of them has more than 20 levels and each level has 12 lessons.
With each correct answer, the user “walk” a kilometre further on its journey and gradually unlock videos and articles.
To make the learning fun and motivating, each level is a city and each lesson represents a moment in the virtual travel.
Every lesson explores some tourist attractions, unusual aspects, and funny anecdotes about different cities that speak the language studied.
Users will visit some cities being able to assimilate the most basic concepts to be able to defend ourselves by making them understand in each of them.
In them learnes will find a system of learning concepts from simple sentences where it will be shown how to write and pronounce them.
LEARNING METHOD
Speekoo’s free lessons build on one another, and it can easily apply new words to everyday life, this app relies on two methodologies for learner success:
STAGGERED REPETITION
Each new word is "linked to its precise meaning or use" so that it can use them in context.
Staggered repetition seems identical to typical spaced repetition methods
The program consist of new vocabulary, writing exercises, reading practice, speaking and some podcast.
PROGRESSIVE EXPOSURE
Progressive exposure ensures that all new words and concepts are based on what you have previously learned
PROS & CONS
PROS: ⁃ It can be a very useful too for language beginners ⁃ Learners can easily apply new words to their everyday life ⁃ It’s really motivating and the interface is very attractive
CONS: ⁃ It’s aimed for extremely casual learners ⁃ This is only an addition, such as an introduction of the language or a practical review of some basic concepts ⁃ The app doesn’t introduce new scripts in case users want to learn another language
