MANY TIMES, THESE ARE THE COURSES THAT THE UNIVERSITY REQUIRE TO MAKE YOU A "WELL ROUNDED" INDIVIDUAL AND STUDENT.

WHAT IS A MAJOR IN COLLEGE?

  • a MAJOR IS A FOCUS FOR YOUR COLLEGE STUDIES. nOT ALL YOUR CLASSES WILL BE TIED TO YOUR MAJOR, BUT THE MAJORITY OF THEM WILL BE.
  • tHERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR UNIQUE AND DIVERSE MAJORS. sOME UNIVERSITIES OFFER CERTAIN MAJORS AND SOME UNIVERSITIES DON'T.
  • yOU WILL GENERALLY HAVE TO "DECLARE" A MAJOR AROUND YOUR SOPHORMORE YEAR OF COLLEGE, HOWEVER YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE YOUR MAJOR. (YOU JUST MAY HAVE SOME WASTED COURSEWORK WHEN YOU DO SO).
  • MAJOR COURSEWORK GENERALLY REQUIRE 40 OR MORE COLLEGE HOURS

WHAT IS A MINOR IN COLLEGE?

  • a MINOR IS A SECONDARY ACADEMIC INTEREST
  • SOME MINORS DIRECTLY SUPPORT THE MAJOR YOU ARE INTERESTED IN, SOME MINORS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
  • MINORS USUALLY CONSIST OF ABOUT 15-18 HOURS OF COURSEWORK

I'M GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE THAT CLASS AGAIN?!

  • YES, YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO TAKE AT LEAST ANOTHER 2 ENGLISH, MATH, SCIENCE & SOCIAL STUDIES CLASSES
    • i LIKED THESE CLASSES BETTER IN COLLEGE, THEY WERE MUCH MORE INTERESTING TO ME... sO DON'T FRET IT!
