Unit 1 – Living things
1.
What is a living thing?
2.
What is a living thing? Give some examples of living things.
3.
In this unit, I will learn about:
- Living things.
- The three living functions.
- The cell.
- Tissues, organs and systems.
1. Living things…
Have cells:
Perform three vital functions:
2. The three life functions
ALL LIVING THINGS PERFORM THREE VITAL FUNCTIONS:
Reproduction
Interaction
Nutrition
All living things interact which their enviroment. For example, sunflowers move and look for the Sun, or animals use their sense organs to detect the information around them
Reproduction allows living things to create new living things. There are two types of reproduction: sexual (like in animals) and asexual (like in bacteria).
Living things obtain nutrients from the enviroment. For example, animals obtain nutrients from other animals and plants.
2. The three life functions
3 – Tissues, organs and systems
Tissues, organs, systems
A group of cells make up a tissue. A group of tissues make up an organ. A group of organs make up a system. A group of systems make up an organism.
