CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
FIRST CONDITIONAL (TYPE 1)
We use the first conditional to talk about things that will/won't happen in the future under certain conditions
eg. If it rains, I will stay at home
ALL CONDITIONAL SENTENCES ARE DIVIDED INTO "2 HALVES"
- IF CLAUSE
- MAIN CLAUSE
IF CLAUSE + SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
MAIN CLAUSE + FUTURE SIMPLE (will/ won't)
LOOK!!!! THE ORDER OF THE SENTENCE CAN VARY BUT NOT THE TENSE!!!
- I will stay at home if it rains.
- I will tell you if I find your wallet
-Notice there is no comma because the word "if" separates each half of the sentence
- If it rains, I will stay at home
- If I find your wallet, I will tell you
-Notice there is a comma to separate each half of the sentence
SOME EXAMPLES...
+info
REMEMBER!!! When the condition is negative we can use "UNLESS" eg. She won't pass the exam unless she studies.
