POSSESSION: WHOSE
Whose? We ask “whose…?" to learn who the owner of something is. E.g.: Whose is that mat? or Whose mat is that? It's hers / It's Sarah's.
POSSESSIVE'S
We use the possessive 's to mention that something belongs to someone. There are some rules to add the 's to a noun or name.
The regular form is to add the 's at the end of the name or noun. But, there are some cases that we need to pay more attention to. E.g.: Noun in the singular + 's: The man's portrait. Noun in the plural, ending in s + ' : The girls' laptops. Noun in the plural (irregular form) + 's: The children's shower. Name + 's: Tina's daughter. Douglas's child. Noun in the singular, ending in s + 's: My boss's desk. Two names: name + name + 's: Gina and Daisy's bedroom. (=one bedroom that Gina and Daisy share) Two names: name + 's + name + 's: Gina's and Daisy's bedrooms (= two bedrooms: Gina has a bedroom and Daisy has a bedroom)
