Limagnes & VercorsField course

Sept. 28 - October 2, 2020

Please, report bugs - if any

Start

Limagnes and Northern Vercors uplandsField course outcrop stops summary

Objectives:This field course is a practical application of the concepts presented in the previous weeks:A focus on the Limagnes extensional features, and a complete section through the western French Alps foreland and thrust belt, with field exposures complemented with seismic and well data.Integration of these data with both geochemical & thermal data via numerical modelling will enable the participants to discuss the basin's potential via the evaluation of the petroleum system's elements.

Report:Discuss tectonic structures potential of both the Limagnes rift system and the compressive Alpine front in the Vercors massif area in terms of:- Residual exploration of HC (oil or gas)- Possible gas storage (HC gas, H2 or CO2) - Medium-to-high temperature geothermal energyDiscussion shall be focused on technical aspects.Limitations related to economics, politics or legal aspects should not be considered.
