What are Previewing & Predicting?
- When you gather information about the book by examining its cover or its external features, you are Previewing.
- And the idea you might get after you previewing that helps you draw some advanced/scientific guesses, it's called Predicting.
.03
Why we need to preview and predict the features of the text or book before we process the content:
- Previewing can activate our prior experience
- Previewing and predicting invite us to recall the information we already know or our backround knowledge about the subject matter of the text, the main point, the structure, the genre , the author, the publication, etc.
- By Previewing and Predicting, we can also anticipate what new information might be ahead of us when we return to engage with the text content more closely.
