PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE

We use the simple present to talk about habits, or things that we do regularly. routines and permanent situations.

Examples:

  1. I live in the countryside.
  2. I live with my family.
  3. I work everyday.
  4. I finish work at 6:00 pm.
  5. I go home at 7:00 pm.

Examples:

  1. She gets up early every day.
  2. She takes a shower at 6:00 am.
  3. She has breakfast at 6:30.
  4. She leaves home at 7:00.

Affirmative Form

The affirmative form In affirmative sentences , the same verb form is maintained with the pronouns: I - We - You - They. Attention! Except for the pronouns, he, she and it .

The affirmative form As we can see, to the verb of the third person singular ( he / she / it ) an -s or -es is added depending on its ending:

Negative Form

The negative sentences we add the auxiliary verb "do" followed by the particle not for the subjects: I - We You - They. For he , she and it the form does will be used followed by the particle not .

Notice that the 3rd person singular of the negative form does not add any -s, -es, -ies at the end of the verb since this has been added with the does form in the auxiliary.

  • He doesn't work late in his office.
  • He doesn't works late in his office.

Interrogative Form

In interrogative sentences the auxiliary verb do or does is placed at the beginning of the sentence followed by the subject, the main verb and in some cases a complement is added. Do = I/ We/ You / They Does= He / She / It

Thank You!
