PRESENT SIMPLE QUESTIONS

Questions

It can be used to find out specific information and to talk about something that is done regularly.

Sentence structure

Auxiliary verb (do/does) + Subject + Verb + Complement?

  • Do you like videogames?
  • Do you want to go to the theatre?

EXAMPLES

You can use interrogative words before the auxiliary, like what, where, when, why, how, etc.

EXAMPLES

  • What do we do now?
  • Where do they live?

In this case, you don’t have to add the “-s” at the end of the verb for third person because the auxiliary replaces it.

ATTENTION!

  • Does he play the piano?

Do you know how to answer these questions?

You have to use a complete answer, not only “yes” or “no”.

  • Do you like videogames? Yes, I do
  • Does he play the piano? No, he doesn’t

EXAMPLES

If the question has an interrogative word, you answer it with a sentence in present simple.

EXAMPLE

  • What do we do now? We can take the train
