We can talk about the future in three different ways

Future plans and intentions
be going to + infinitive We use going to when we have already decided to do something e.g. My sister is going to adopt a child Are you going to buy a new car? I'm not going to go to New York tomoprrow

be going to + infinitive We also use going to to make a prediction about the future, especially when you can see or have some evidence e.g.: Look at those black clouds, I think it's going to rain. Barcelona are going to win. They are playing very well.

Future arrangements
Present continuous: be + verb + -ing
We use the present continuous for future arrangements The present continuous emphazises that you have made the arrangements: We're getting married on October 12th (we've booked the church, etc) We often use it with verbs related to travel arragements: go, come, arrive, leave. I'm going to Paris tomorrow and coming back on Tuesday.

Will / Shall + Infinitive
Instant decision : I'll have the steak Promises: I won't tell anybody where you are Offers: I will carry that bag for you Predictions: You will love New York! Future facts: I 'll be at home all afternoon Shall I help you with your homework? (Offer) Shall we eat out tonight? (Suggestion) We use Shall (Not will) with I and WE for offers and suggestions when they are questions

I'm going to make / I will make a cake for your mum's birthday if you want. 5. I'm not going to go / I won't go to my brother-in-law party next weekend. 6. Shall I / Will I help you with the washing up?
