Course Description

Earth Science is designed to give the student a strong basis for understanding the world. The course consists of a varied curriculum that provides the student the opportunity to explore, compare, research, reflect, and make real-worldconnections. The curriculum, which meets Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), engages students in problem solving and scientific investigation, and provides opportunities for both hands-on exploration and virtual simulation.

Login and complete assigned work DAILY!

Students in my class have the opportunity to earn Star Points and then use those points to “purchase” rewards. Some rewards include: extra credit on unit tests or exam, test retake, portfolio correction, and participation points. Find out more info by clicking this link!

Complete Labs in ClassKick All labs will be completed in ClassKick, which is an online program that allows you to work right within it and will automatically save your work. It is very similar to an online worksheet. Link to all your labs in ClassKick!

Lab CorrectionsYou may re-submit ONE lab per semester with corrections. Re-submits are due within 7 days of receiving grading feedback for that portfolio. You can earn up to 50% of your missed points. Fill out this link when you wish to re-submit a lab.

You are not permitted to skip labs!You are NOT permitted to skip labs, but instead, must complete them when assigned.

Re-submit DeadlinesThe last day I will accept re-submits is two weeks prior to the end of the school year. There will be NO exceptions to this deadline, so please plan accordingly!

Assessment Policies

Course Description

Academic IntegrityIf your answers are not your own and match or are similar to outside resources (web sites, lessons, textbook, friends, family, Internet, Phone, etc.), it is considered an Honor Code violation and in order to earn points on the assessment, you will be required to retake it if this is your first offense. Please see my assessment policies for more details (link).

No skipping essays/short answers:Students are NOT permitted to skip essay questions. If a student does not answer essay question(s), they will be required to tutor with Mrs. Rogers and pass similar questions to earn credit for the assessment.

5 Minute Average per QuestionIf your assessment is NOT timed, you are expected to complete it in one sitting in a resonable amount of time. This means that when you open the assessment, you are to complete it at that time and not later in the day. A reasonable amount of time means that you should take no more than 5 minutes to answer a question

Assessment RetakesYou are allowed to retake one unit test per semester. There are no retakes on any other assessments, such as quick checks, quizzes, or discussions. Please follow this link to find out more info about retakes.

CBA

Course Description

Students will be required to complete a CBA over science content covered in my class. You must have completed at least 50% of the first unit that has lessons and assessments assigned within it before you can complete your CBA.

CBAs serve as a way for students to demonstrate their understanding of the course material and also as a way to foster communication with Mrs. Rogers. You must successfully pass your CBA in order to receive credit for the class.

Make sure you explore the resources availble on the course message board for study guides and lesson guides to help you conquer this course! Here is the link to your message board!

Absolute last day to earn points for a CBA is January 10th, 2022 (1st semester) and May 27th, 2022 (2nd semester). After these dates, you will not earn points on a CBA, but will still be required to complete your CBA in order to earn credit for the class.

Course Description

Going above and beyond You turned in exemplary portfolios with in-depth and reflective responses to analysis and conclusion questions. You also provided thorough and refreshing answers to essay questions. You strived to go above and beyond with your application of knowledge to course assessments.

You must call and personally ask Mrs. Rogers to write you a letter of recommendation.

Monthly contact with Mrs. Rogers I want to get to know you both in school and out. Monthly contact will be a phone call that is pre-scheduled using my booking link while you were enrolled in my course.
