The Scientific MEthod
Stating the Problem
Is a concise description of an issue to be addressed or a condition to be improved upon
+ info
Gathering Information on the problem
The first step in solving a scientific problem is to find out or review everything important related to it.
+ info
Forming a Hypothesis
A suggested solution is called Hypothesis. It is almost always formed after the information related to the problem has been carefully studied. Sometimes a hypothesis is the result of creative thinking.
+ info
Performing Experiments to test the hypothesis
To test the hypothesis by performing certain activities. These activities are called experiments. The results of the experiment must make sure that the results of the experiment clearly support or do not support the hypothesis.
+ info
REcording and Analyzing Data
Data include observations such as measurements. Then scientists analyzed the recorded data.
Stating a conclusion
After analyzing the recorded data, the scientists came to a conclusion.
Repeating the work
It is necessary to repeat many times the test to have a vaild conclusion. To make sure the data were accurate. .

The history of life on earth
how do we learn about ancient life
Paleontologists look for clues to understand what happened in the past. These scientists use fossil to reconstruct the history of life. A fossil: is a trace of imprint of a living thing that is preserved by geological processes.
+ info
Vocabulary
What is the geologic time scale?
After a fossil is dated, a paleontologist can place the fossil in chronological order with other fossils. This ordering allows scientists to hypothesize about relationship between species and how organisms changed over time.
