Rations & Recipes

LET'S GET COOKING!

SLICE & DICE

This week is all about wartime food! Click on me to catch up on some history - then visit the garden and kitchen for some fun activities!

SOW & GROW

In Canada, growing and consuming food looked a bit different during the World Wars. Click on the apple trees to learn more!

RATION STAMPS

Click on the food items to see whether or not they were rationed during the Second World War! During the World Wars, Canada sent food overseas - not just to feed its own soldiers, but also to help feed its allies. To help stretch supplies, Canada rationed certain foods, meaning that each person could only buy a limited amount per week.
