CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

ZERO CONDITIONALStructure: If + present simple, present simpleUSE: Scientific facts, general truths, habits

FIRST CONDITIONAL

USE: to express future or present possible situations.Structure: If + present simple, will + verb can + verb may/must+ verb IMPERATIVE (just the verb )

SECOND CONDITIONAL

USE: Imaginary situations, hypothesisStructure: If + PAST simple, would + verb could + verb might + verb For the 3 person singular we use the plural IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD + verb

THIRD CONDITIONAL

USE: An impossible situation because it has already happened, a regret or hypothesis about a past situation. Structure: If + PAST PERFECT, would have PARTICIPLE (-ed/third column)
