COVID-19 Symptom Monitoring Requirement

Those who study or work on campus must conduct symptom monitoring every day before coming to campus to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Entering Campus

Anyone who is feeling ill should not come to campus.

COVID Attendance Tracking

Reminder: During the August Summer Pilot students who are required to return to campus have been contacted individually. If you have not been contacted, you will be working and studying remotely until further notice.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

Daily enhanced cleaning of common touchpoints such as door handles, elevator buttons, stair rails, etc. will be conducted following Public Health recommendations. Disinfecting wipes will be available in classrooms and labs to wipe down common touch surfaces, like computers and tabletops, before and after use. SLC has secured and installed hand sanitizer stations in key areas such as hallways, corridors, classrooms, academic labs, and customer service centres.

Tools and Equipment

It is recommended that you do not share tools or equipment with others unless it is necessary for the task. If shared, you must disinfect them after each use and before handing them over to another person. Disinfecting sprays and paper towels and wipes will be available. At the end of each learning session, wash your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer for at least 20 seconds.

Physical Distancing

  • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from others
  • Do not gather in groups and limit gatherings to 10 people or less
  • Stay out of crowded places and avoid mass gatherings
  • Avoid handshakes or hugs
  • Follow directional signage, physical distancing signs, and markers posted throughout the college
  • Wear a mask while on campus - this is mandatory

PPE Information

The best way to stop the spread of COVID-19 is by staying home if you are sick, practicing physical distancing and continuing frequent hand washing.

NOTE: All employees and students are required to wear a mask while on campus in Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall.

Please bring your own mask or face covering to campus. A mask will be provided to you if you forget to bring one. If Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for your program, it will be provided for you.

      Accommodation Needs

Use of Non-Medical Masks or Face Coverings

Non-medical masks or face covering should:

      • Fit securely to the head with ties or ear loops
      • If re-usable, maintain their shape after washing and drying multiple times
      • Be made of at least two layers of tightly woven material (such as cotton or linen)
      • Be large enough to completely and comfortably cover the nose and mouth without gaping
      • Be comfortable for the user, with the ability to breathe normally and without impeding other safety considerations (i.e. adequate vision, communication)

        More Information

        PPE Continued

Gloves may be used as an additional measure but are not a substitute for proper hand hygiene. The Public Health Agency of Canada recommends the use of gloves when workers will be in direct contact with an ill person, or a contaminated object or environment and advises that washing your bare hands regularly with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer offers better protection against COVID-19 than disposable gloves. Individuals are not required to wear gloves as part of general activity on campus.

        More Information

Goggles and face shields are not required to wear as part of general activity on campus.

        Mental Health

Anyone can experience increased anxiety and/or mental health concerns at a time like this. You are encouraged to take care of yourself, or suggest supports for others who may be struggling.

        • Stay active
        • Get proper rest and sleep
        • Seek support
        • Experiencing feelings of some fear and anxiety is normal
        • Know yourself
        • Seek credible information
