One Pager Directions A one pager is a way to visually share key ideas and information from what you have learned. When you create a one pager, you are trying to use both visual symbols and important words to clearly and concisely share your most important takeaways with someone else. For this one pager, I’ve provided you with a template. Click here to access it. Here’s what it MUST INCLUDE:

  • A border which somehow represents the key themes from what you have read
  • An image in the upper left hand corner with a quotation woven into or around it. This image should somehow represent what you consider to be the most important symbol in the text so far.
  • Images and/or doodled words in the upper right hand corner that represent the key characters from the text and perhaps how they are changing
  • Three important quotations from the text in the lower left hand corner that show the author's style of writing, and the power of the language that is used
  • Images and/or words in the bottom right hand corner that show connections between the themes and ideas in the writing and what is going on in the world today.
  • Words and/or images that show the significance of the setting in some way
You may also add other symbols, drawings, and words that represent the reading as you wish. Click here for an example of a Macbeth one pager created by a former student.

Macbeth: Movie Trailer Directions: You will film an ORIGINAL trailer for the play Macbeth.

  • Watch a few REAL movie trailers on YouTube to get some inspiration.
  • Your finished trailer should be 2 1/2 or more minutes long.
  • Have fun and be creative!
  • You may work with one other student from any of Ms. Parenti's English 2 classes for this project.
  • Both students must submit a copy of the finished project on Canvas.

CASTLE DESIGNER Do a little research on typical 11th-century castles online, and draw a detailed floor plan of Macbeth’s castle as you imagine it, using scenes from the play to help you along. Be sure to include the banquet room, the bedrooms, the large open space in the middle, the watchtower, kitchen, etc. Be sure to label each area* and include a sentence on why it was included (i.e., what happened there). Include color for anything drawn by hand! *You'll want to include & label areas of importance, such as:

  1. The Banquet Hall
  2. King Duncan's chamber (a guest chamber)
  3. Macbeth & Lady Macbeth's chamber (i.e. bedroom)
  4. The front gate with the drunken Porter
  5. The open courtyard area in the middle (used in Act 3, scene 1-3).
  6. The fields right in front of the castle (used in Act 5)
  7. The hall leading to Duncan's chamber
Or, for more artistically inclined students, create a model of Macbeth’s castle. Historically, his castle would have been a rath or set of fortified wooden buildings. You might model a rath, your idea of how Macbeth’s castle would have been presented at the Globe, or a castle that might be used in a modern production of the play.
  • For a model or diorama recreation of Macbeth's castle, should include a 3-5 sentence paragraph explaining the decisions you made or where each significant setting would be. Alternately, you could record yourself with the project, showing where each setting is and why you made the decisions you made.

Macbeth: Film an Act For this project, you will film any act from the play Macbeth.

  • You can either re-enact or modernize the scenes in the act you choose from Macbeth.
  • Employ your friends as actors in your production.
  • Your finished act must be 2 1/2 or more minutes long.
  • Have fun and be creative!
  • You may work with one other student from any of Ms. Parenti's English 2 classes for this project.
  • Both students must submit a copy of the finished project on Canvas.

Macbeth Final Project: Trading Cards Choose SEVEN or more characters from Macbeth, and create collectible Trading/Game Cards for them. Each card should include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • The name of the character
  • An image of the character
  • A “famous” quote from the character
  • Strengths of the character
  • Weaknesses of the character
You can use any of the templates from the slide deck linked below or create your own.
  • If you choose to draw them yourself, they need to be in color/colored in, not just sketched. Part of the creative aspect is putting effort into making them look more like real trading cards.
  • Also, be sure that the character traits listed for strengths and weaknesses are accurate. Use your notes or the linked resources on the choice board.
Have fun and be creative! Link to the Trading Card Templates

CARTOGRAPHER’S MASTERPIECE Either on paper/poster board or digitally, draw and illustrate a map of Scotland with the key places on it from the play (Dunsinane, Inverness, Fife, Scone, Birnam Wood, etc.)—draw pictures on the map to show the action that took place there and write a 5 sentence explanation of the action that happens at each location. Be sure to label each area* and include a sentence on why it was included (i.e., what happened there). Include color for anything drawn by hand! *You'll want to include & label areas of importance, such as:

  1. Dunsinane
  2. Scone
  3. Fife
  4. The barren heath where the witches meet
  5. Birnam Wood

Newspaper/Magazine The newspaper/magazine should be at least three pages long and formatted accordingly.

  • Page 1 should be a cover for the newspaper/magazine.
  • Pages 2-3 should be composed of various articles (written by the student) relating to the story of Macbeth, Shakespeare, or historical information about Shakespeare’s day and age.
  • Advertisements that are relevant to the time period or Macbeth are encouraged. However, articles, not advertisements, should be the overall focus of the newspaper.
Some possible articles or stories you could focus the front-page cover story on:
  1. Compose a front page newspaper article providing details on the murder of King Duncan.
  2. Compose a front-page newspaper article providing details about the suspicion that Macbeth was responsible for the death of King Duncan.
  3. Compose a front-page newspaper article providing details on the death of Macbeth and the crowning of a new King.

Just a reminder, that anything you draw by hand needs to be colored in and look nice. Check the rubric for more details, and check the instructions for Re-creating Macbeth's castle and Drawing Macbeth's Scotland because I added instructions which clarify this in more detail.
