4. about 12 though adult - Formal operaltional stage- abstract reasoning

Kohlberg Moral Development

• Preconventional Morality - Before age 9 - children obey rules to avoid punishment or gain rewards ( to try to reason with a 2 yr old)
• Conventional Morality - Morality focused on laws and rules, simply because they are the laws adn rules
• Postconventional Morality - Actions are judged "right" because they flow from a person's rights or from basic ethical principles.
