- How to say objects that existed in the past?
- If we want to mention some objects, places, people that existed in the past and that do not exist today, we need to use the following expressions:
- There was- singular positive
- There was not (wasn’t)- singular negative
- There were- plural positive
- There were not (weren’t)- plural negative
- Examples: In my town, there was a lot of garbage
- There wasn’t a park
- There were a lot of cars
- There weren’t any recycling bins
How to compare the objects that there are now and that there were before?
When comparing the objects that exist now and that existed in the past, we need to take into account the present and the past form of the previous expressions:
Example In my town, there were a lot of cars, now there are a lot of bikes.
How to narrate a story that happened in the past?
- When talking about past, we need to remember that we need to use the past form of the actions that we want to use:
- Ex. Present form: play I play with my Friends at 8:00 am
- Past form: played yesterday, I played with my friends at 10:00 am
04
Example
When I was a kid, I played with my friends (la tapita) in the street, we run with a ball and we needed to hit a tower of caps and if the tower fell down, we win. It was a good moment of my life.
How to show your hobbies?
If you want to talk about the actions that you like, love, don’t like, hate or stop doing you need to pay attention to the following examples: I like playing with my Friends I love playing in the computer I don’t like running in the soccer field I hate eating fish I stop playing Xbox Did you pay attention of the verbs in red? Do you notice that all the verbs finish in –ing? This is the way we need to show our hobbies; using like, love, don’t like and the next verb ending in –ing.
