- SUPRASEGMENTAL FEATURE LIKE INTONATION OR STRESS.
- THE TUNE (I.E., "LA TONADA, EL CANTITO") WITH WHICH WE SPEAK
a common meaning of "accent"
A group of all kinds of linguistic features (words and expressions, grammatical structures, pronunciation, and ACCENT) That we come to associate with a group of people we identify as having soemthing in common (geographical origin or social class, for example)
That's why we talk about "el acento Cordobés" or the "Geordie accent", and we mean also words and pronunciation, not just Accent in the sense of "tonada"
in this sense, accent = variety
Lingustic variety
All features of speech that together we associate with a group of people (e.g., los entrerrianos, people from the "villas")
