This checkmate can happen in any moment of the game

This checkmate is one of the most common mates in chess. As you can see in this position, even right after the opening this can happen. The white queen takes the pawn g7 and it is game over.

Kiss of the on the "a" and "h" lines

The checkmate with the queen on the rock lines is one of the most common ones. Here the queen should move to h7, where she will be protected by the Knight. Notice how the black rook on f8 cuts the black king escape route.

“I have come to the personal conclusion that while all artists are not chess players, all chess players are artists.”

Marcel Duchamp

Here the white queen captures the h7 pawn giving a similar checkmate as the one we saw before.

Queen and rock can also give the kiss of death

Here the queen attacks the king with the help of the rock, giving a similar check mate to the ones we saw before.

The queen is really powerful, and whe she is helped by other pieces there is not much the king can do against her.
