Pepper is literally everywhere now but that hasn't always been the case. Living past the age of 30 was a luxury in the Middle Ages and so was the spice that we all use so freely now. It was so expensive in fact, that Portugal's Vasco de Gama became the first man to sail around Africa to get to India. His mission? To look for spices.

This was the conclusion from an experiment done in France. The reason for the experiment was to see how our surroundings affect our drinking habits and to encourage bar-owners to think about how the atmosphere could be leading to excessive drinking.
