Usamos There is (there's) "Hay un. . ." en singular para describir algo.

There is a caféHay una cafetería

There are some.... (Hay varios... )

There are some. . . Hay algunos. . . Los usamos para referirnos a varios sin especificar cuantos. There are two. . . Hay dos. . . En vez de some podemos usar un número para aclarar cuantos hay.
