“An imperative is formed using the base form of a verb. We refer to the second person in singular or plural (you).”

“Un imperativo es formado usando la forma base del verbo. Nos referimos a la segunda persona del singural o plural (you). ”

En inglés no se usa el imperativo tanto como en el español. En general, se usa para dar órdenes, instrucciones o advertencias. Las frases imperativas se construyen de manera diferente a las afirmativas: NO se utiliza un sujeto porque se supone que el sujeto es siempre “you” y el verbo principal va en la forma infinitiva.

IMPERATIVES (NEGATIVE FORM)

THE NEGATIVE IMPERATIVE IS FORMED BY PLACING "DON'T" (or DO NOT ) before the verb in base form.

El imperativo negativo es formado al poner Don't ( o DO NOT) antes de la forma base del verbo.

Don't shout. I'm not deaf! / No grites. No estoy sordo. Do not make noise, the baby is sleeping. / No hagas ruido el bebé está durmiendo.

Imperatives can also be used to propose an action which the speaker will also perform. These forms use let's. Los imperativos también pueden proponer una acción que el hablante también realizará. Y se utiliza la forma let's (vamos).

Let's go to the movies. / Vamos al cine. Let's play. / Vamos a jugar. Let's dance. / Vamos a bailar
