Id, Ego, SuperEgo

ID

Ego

Super Ego

Your true self without any social ot cultureal rules. What do you love to do if you didnt have to go to work or school, or pay for it?

Where is your balencing point? How can you do things in a way that makes you happy but that will not get you kicked out of school or kicked out of your family?

Who are you supposed to be? What is the correct response that the DC board wants to hear? How do you make your Grandmother proud?

Defense Mechanisms

Repression

Projection

Displacement

Remaining at the present, more comfortable psychological stage. This is how it has always been done, and this is what I am doing even if it is bad.

I am done adulting for today!! Sometimes things happen and you just close down and act like a child.

To push threating thoughts into our unconscious mind. Sometimes we have to stop crying, wash our face and pull ourself together.

Showing a different emotion then what is being felt. Laughing when you are really mad, or crying when you are mad.

Projecting your faults on someone else. I would not have to yell at my children if they were not being so bad. (of course I don't HAVE TO yell at anyone)

Redirecting negative urges onto someone or something else.

Application

Psychoanalysis is not used as much in therapy these days but it has been modernized into many techiques. * Myers Briggs is based on this work *Strength Finders *Also Journalling, drawing can be ways of getting deeper into your thoughts *In Chiropractic it is learning who your clients really are and what things they might be holding back, then embracing these Defenses to help them be willing to face their fears and really live a healthy life

*Concepts are based on very subjective interpretations.* Focuses alot on sex, aggression and drugs * Very loose organizational framework *Not a practical guide to solve problems.
