Meter
Your glucose meter is a small hand held device that will provide your blood glucose results. Meters are simple to use and will always come with instructions on how to use them. Most meters involve a few easy steps: 1. Turn the meter on 2. Insert the test strip 3. Apply the blood sample 4. Read your result

Test strip
The test strip is inserted into the glucose meter and a small blood sample is applied. The blood sample mixes with a chemical enzyme to provide your glucose level. Remember, the test strips are only able to be used with the same brand glucose meter. They are not interchangeable.

Control solution
Control solution is used to ensure that the test strips are working properly, providing accurate results and haven't been damaged. The solution is a known concentration of glucose and the results must be between the predetermined range. Typically, you will have a high and a low bottle of control solution. However, some brands may have only one. To perform a control solution test, you will insert a test strip into your meter. Next, place a drop of solution on a clean, dry, solid surface and then touch the test strip to the drop of control solution. You will then compare the result to the printed range on the vial of test strips.
