When do we use the SECOND Conditional?

EXAMPLES: -If I WERE the President of Spain, I would build more schools -If we won the lottery, we would buy a new house.

To talk about IMAGINARY or HYPOTETHICAL situations that are very difficult to come true.

MORE EXAMPLES

- If I had more free time, I would travel to USA.- If she had your phone call, she would call you. - If I went to the moon, I wouldn´t breathe easily. - I would play the piano very good if I practiced everyday. - I would run away if I saw an alien.

HOW DO WE FORM THE SECOND CONDITIONAL?

WOULD/WOULDN´T + VERB

iF + PAST SIMPLE

REMEMBER!

past simple: regular and irregular verbs! GO-WENT PLAY-PLAYED

IF + PAST SIMPLE // WOULD /WOULDN´T + VERB (-ED/ II COLUMN) IF + DIDN´T + VERB // WOULD/ WOULDN´T + VERB.

AFFIRMATIVE + NEGATIVE

PAST SIMPLE- VERB TO BE FIRST PERSON "I". "If I WERE ( was) rich, I would travel to london. If I WERE intelligent, I would pass the exam.
