Tech allows for the creation of new tasks, previously inconceivable.

SAMR was created by Dr. Puentedura to make technology enhance student learning. The first two stages, substitution and augmentation, focus on enhancement. The next two, modification and redefinition, focus on transformation.

The seeds are now planted in the pot with the soil and now it is being watered so the plant can grow.

Now we are improving the function of the empty pot with soil and plant seeds.

The pot has been completely redefined into having a purpose, it has a plant that has grown because of the pot, soil, seed, and water!

The pot is simply sitting empty as a decoration. Therefore there is nothing being added to it that enhances it.

In a classroom, this looks like subbing a pencil and paper for Microsoft Word.

In the classroom this looks like using a tool such as Kahoot, and doing class interactive games.

In the classroom instead of doing a book report on paper or on Microsoft Word, you make a video for a book report.

In a classroom this might look like students using google hangout to share their book reports with other students across the world and learn from one another.
