what is history?
It is the study of things that happened in the past. It tells us things about how our ancestors lived and about important events. It helps us understand the present.
They use different sources:
- Objects found by archaelogists.
- Works of art: monuments, sculptures, paintings...
- Written documents: inscriptions on stone, papyri, books, maps...

Iberians and Celts lived in the Iberian Peninsula in towns with walls for protection.They were farmers: they growed crops and raised animals. They were also merchants and artisans.
They left remains of their culture.

Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Greeks founded colonies along the coast in the Iberian Peninsula. They introduced the Iberians and Celts to new gods and new customs, like the use of money.

The Romans arrived to the peninsula in 218 BCE and conquered the whole territory by 19 BCE. They name it "Hispania" and divided it intro 5 provinces.
People in Hispania, spoke Latin, followed Roman laws and adopted the Christian religion.
