USE

We use the past simple to talk about things that happened in the past.

Time expressions:yesterday last weeek / last month / last year a year ago in 2010

Regular verbs

We add -ed at the end of the verb

Example:

They visited Paris last year. They stayed at a hotel. They loved the city.

Irregular verbs

Irregular verbs made the past tense in different ways. You have to memorize them.Example:have - had go - wentsee - saw eat - atewrite - wrote take - took

Example:

Yesterday I had breakfast at home. I ate pancakes. I drank a cup of coffee. I made the pancakes.

Negative form

SUBJECT + DIDN'T + VERB

Example:

They didn't play football yesterday. They played basketball. They didn't win the match. They lost the match.
