REPORTING VERBS
Some rules
- Reporting verbs: ask, enquire, wonder, want to know.- No se usará THAT. Nunca. - Se producirán todos los cambios que vimos en las statements: pronombres, adjetivos posesivos, demostrativos, tiempos verbales, expresiones temporales, here,... - Desaparece el signo de interrogación. - WORD ORDER: Cambiamos el orden de palabras de una pregunta al orden de palabras de una oración enunciativa. Esta sería la estructura de una pregunta indirecta: Subject + verb + complements.

WH- Questions Object questions:WH- + aux. + subject + (verb) + complements?"How long has she been living here?" Subject questions: WH- (+noun) + verb + complements? INDIRECT SPEECH S + reporting verb + wh- (+noun) + vb. + compl. She asked who was coming to the party the following day. He wanted to know how many people had missed the flight the day before.
Yes / No questions
DIRECT SPEECH Aux + S + vb + Comp.?"Did you arrive late at school yesterday?" REPORTED / INDIRECT SPEECH S + reporting vb + IF/WHETHER + S + vb + Comp.
