MUSLIM ART

Muslim architecture is the Islamic architecture of Al Andalus under the muslim domination between 711 and 1492.

1. ARCHITECTURE

Muslim architecture gave a lot of importance to the use of water, light, ornaments (tiles) and arches.

THE RENAISSANCE

The Renaissance took place between the XIVth and XVIIth centuries in Europe. It was a rebirth of education, science, art, literature and music.

It is a revival and development of certain elements of ancient Greek and Roman architecture.

2. PAINTING

El Greco and Diego de Velázquez are two of the most important painters in History. Their paintings belong to the Renaissance period.

He was a painter, sculptor and architect of the Renaissance.

He was a Spanish painter who was the leading artist in the court of King Philip IV.

His works are dramatic and expressionist.

Velazquez was one of Spain’s first exponents of the realism and the new naturalism

He is best known for his use of the colours and shadows and his long characters.

He became the master of the perspective techniques, playing with the spectator in his paintings.
