Germs are everywhere.They are very, very small. You can't see them with open eyes. You need a microscope.

To avoid germs you should: - wash your hands - cover wounds with a bandage - not shake hands with sick people -

Germs cause many diseases. Germs can enter your body through your nose, mouth and broken skin.

DO THESE TWO EXPERIMENTS

EXPERIMENT 1

Look! Germs stick to your hands. Washing with ONLY water doesn't kill germs. Look what happens when you use SOAP!

EXPERIMENT 2

3. Now wash your hands and dry them. Touch clean hands to a slice of bread and put it in a freezer bag. 4. Label the bags (CLEAN and DIRTY) 5. Wait a few days…

Have a look at the mouldy bag of bread. And...Yep, the ‘dirty hands’ are more mouldy than the ‘clean hands.

1. Take some slices of bread, lightly spray them with water.

2. Touch the bread with dirty hands and put the bread in a freezer bag.

RESULT?

Even if we can't see germs on our hands, they can be there. Always remember to wash your hands!
