WHAT ARE THE FAKE NEWS?

False news (Fake news) is a type of package consisting of a content pseudo-journalist disseminated through news portals, the written press, radio, television and social networks, the aim of which is disinformation. False news is broadcast with the deliberate intention of deceiving inducing an error, manipulating personal decisions, discounting or elevating an institution, entity or person, or obtaining economic gain or political gain.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN PROBLEMS OF FAKE NEWS?

False news has been around forever. Not everything we read, hear and see is true. However, with the emergence of digital media this has been recorded in an unprecedented way. The immediacy that the internet offer us, has made that already practically everything goes viral. More and more false and meaningless news. One of the problems of Fake News is that they arm other people and/or companies. And the second reason is that it is tied to political and lucrative interests.

HOW TO RECOGNIZE FAKE NEWS?

1.- Read past the headline2.- Check what news outlet published it 3.- Check the publish date and time 4.- Who is the author? 5.- Look at what links at sources are used (links, records, pages URL...) 6.- Check the advertising key, if there are misspellings and the images are retouched 7.- Look out for questionable quotes and photos 8.- Beware confirmation bias 9.- Search if other news outlets are reporting it 10.- Think before you share. Don't get carried away by emotion!
