INTERVIEW ABOUT ZECHINO D´ORO COLLABORATION ACTIVITY

STUDENTS FROM ITALY AND SPAIN

THE SONG WRITING PROCESS

Interview with the author of the song "The Respect" LORENZO INCELLI (4A Primary School) Question: Lorenzo, how did you come up with the idea of writing the song? Lorenzo: First I wrote the poem called "Friendship is an important thing" . I showed the text to my teacher Ginevra. The teacher read the lyrics to my whole class, then asked if we want to write a song with this text. I said I can write the song, but I only managed to write the chorus. Question: What happened next? Lorenzo: The teacher Ginevra proposed to the whole class to participate in the creation of the song. Together we wrote the two verses and the chorus. I also wrote the drum part. Then we tried to sing the song. Question: Who helped you write the song? Lorenzo: Professor Marco Grande and Professor Olga of the middle school. Question: What did they do? Lorenzo: Professor Marco wrote music on the board and we sang and played ukulele. Then we sent the picture of the blackboard with the song to Prof Olga. She wrote the arrangement for the orchestra. We recorded this song and with this video we participated in the national competition “Abbado Prize”.

Ahmet 5th grade student from Italy

Question: To write the song, do you use the staff sheet or a normal sheet? Ahmed: We only wrote the lyrics, the song we invented singing. But we use for musical rehearsals the part that is delivered to us by the middle school teachers. Question: How long does it take to write a song? Ahmed: There is no precise time. It happens that the idea comes to you immediately, but sometimes it can pass even more than a day. Question: Do you want to invent songs only at school, or even at home? Ahmed: We start writing at home, then we take our notes to the teacher.
