What is statelessness?
All refugees are stateless, many stateless people are not refugees. Being undocumented or Asylum is not the same as being stateless.

"A stateless person does not have a nationality of any country". AND Some people are born stateless, but others become stateless

HOW DO PEOPLE BECOME STATELESS?
Discrimination in national laws (For example: racial, religious or gender)
Loss or deprivation of nationality.
Laws restricting the rights of women to pass on their nationality to their children.
Conflict and gaps in national laws.

Without any nationality, stateless persons often do not have the basic rights like other citizens.
- Stateless persons often have no access to education or healthcare.

- As stateless persons are often denied basic human rights such as identity documents.
- In many countries, a stateless person cannot register a marriage and any children they have will be stateless
- They are also not legally allowed to work.
- Statelessness causes isolation and separation between the family.
