The canovista system

The most conservative sectors support him because they think that Canovas could come back the political stability and the attempt of the democratic revolution would end.

This epoque that is known such as the Restoration, come back to throne to the Borbon dynasty.Antonio Cánovas recieves the support of the most moderate sector of population to restore the throne to the Bourbons.

Cánovas created a new political group called bipartisanship, it was dominated by two great political groups:

• The conservative group : He was in favour of a politic inmovilism,the defense of the church and the social order.
• The liberal group : Sagasta was inclined towards to somewhat more democratic, secular and social reformism.

Both political groups were agreed with the defense of the monarchy , of the Constitution, of the private poperty and of the centralist state.

The Constitution of 1876

• Sufragge: The Constitution wasn't reflected.In 1890 the universal male suffrage was aproved.
• State Catholic confessionality: Although other beliefs were tolerated.
• Reducef declaration of rigths and freedoms: Cánovas had devised a bipartisanship political sistem, they agreed to alternate in the power. This idea was called (the peaceful turn)

• State form: Parlamientary monarchy
• Shared Sovereignty: It is shared between the king and the courts
• Division of powers : they granted the king broad powers.
• Bicameral courts : senate appointed by the king and the courts and choose by the citizens

The nationalisms

• Catalonia: It was the region pioneer, it was one of the most industrialized regiones , they thought that their interests weren't represented un the Spanish governments.Renaixença is a language and Catalan culture recovery movement that caused the catalism politic development.
• Basque Country : they were defeated in the III Carlist War , the basques lose their traditional priviledges . The development the basque culture and language produced a protest movement that finished with the Basque Nationalist Party creation

It is a new system that imposed the centralization,that's the reason why a movement nacionalist that aspired to the independence may arose.
