Cerati's parents acquired a guitar for him when he was nine years old, at that point Cerati started to take music seriously, becoming a fanatic of rock and roll
He liked Jimmy Hendryx, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and others.

They published their first album, "Soda Stereo", in 1984, soon "Nada Personal" (1985).
SODA STEREO
Gustavo was the vocalist and their guitarrist.
In 1979 at the Universidad del Salvador he met Zeta Bossio. Then in 1982 when they were planning to form a band, they met Charly Alberti. They formed SODA STEREO
Zeta played the bass.
Charly was their drummer.
Later came "Doble Vida" (1988), the album that confirmed the role of Soda Stereo as an international band

"Amor Amarillo" included the participation of Cerati's ex wife Cecilia Amenábar during her pregnancy of their fisrt child.
In mid 1997, the band officially announced their break-up. They toured Latin American together for the last time, performing in Mexico, Venezuela and Chile; the journey ended with an official goodbye concert in Buenos Aires, with an audience of 80,000 people
SOLO CAREER
During the next two years, Cerati worked on the soundtracks of various films, and was nominated to the Latin Grammys for his album "+ Bien". He also embarked on a Latin Americantour to present his work
"11 Episodios sinfónicos".
In 1992 Cerati recorded Colores Santos ("Holy Colors") with Daniel Melero. Later on, an album called "Amor Amarillo" (1993)

In 1999, Cerati gave birth to one of the most long-awaited albums since the split of the band: "Bocanada", thus officially kicking off his solo career.
This album brought a distinctive sound to the Argentinian scene in the late nineties, and new electronic experiments, performances with symphonic orchestras, and top-notch guest musicians.

The album was showered with awards, receiving eight Gardel (equivalent of a U.S. Grammy) nominations in Argentina and winning all but one of the nominations, a first for any Argentinian artist.

The tour was attended by more than one million fans and broke attendance records in various cities.
"ME VERAS VOLVER"
Ten years after their last concert Soda Stereo held a press conference at the Club Museum where they had previously filmed the video "En la ciudad de la furia".
They announced their back with the tour "Me Verás Volver ("You will See Me Return").
In that conference they clarified that in 2008 they would return to their respective individual activities.

The tour consisted of 22 concerts in nine countries: Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico the United States, Colombia, Panamá, Venezuela and Perú.

Fuerza Natural
Fuerza Natural is the fifth and the last albun of Gustavo. It was published on September 1st in 2010. It was considered the best albun in Argentina for selling more than 20,000 copies in its first week of release. It included hits as Déjà vu, Rapto, and Magia. .
Cactus is an amazing song written by Gustavo Cerati in the albun Fuerza Natural. Then in 2012 Abel Pintos makes the best cover of "cactus".

After performing two shows in Medellín and Bogotá, Colombia, Cerati headed to Venezuela and performed one last show in Caracas on May 15th 2010. Cerati suffered a stroke just after putting an end to this performance. He was hospitalized in Centro Médico La Trinidad in Caracas.
After four years in a coma, Gustavo Cerati died from respiratory arrest on the morning of September 4th 2014 while on life support. His body was buried at La Chacarita Cemetery in Buenos Aires.
