To talk about thinks that are always true

First Conditional

To talk about real and possible situations

If + simple present..., simple future

• If Argentina wins, I'll buy you a beer

• If you set your mind to a goal, you will eventually achieve it.

Second Conditional

To talk about hypothetical situations or give an advice

If + past sunjunctive..., would/could + base form...

• If Albert worked less, he could travel more.

• If I were you, I would enjoy my vacation.

Third Conditional

To talk about a last opportunity or past hypothetical

If+ past perfect..., would/could + present perfect

• If I had cleaned the house, I could have gone to the movies.

• If you had made more cookies, we might have had enough.
