It was in 1960 when Andy Warhol, American artist and extraordinary Creative, was attracted by Pop art. It is very difficult to believe that the ' Pop art ' movement existed before Warhol started doing it. Pop Art had started in the 50´s in Britain, it's also strange to think that Warhol was an artist before his pop artwork. In fact, in the years 1950 Warhol was very successful as a commercial illustrator for brands such as Tiffany & Co., Vogue and Glamour Magazine.
1962 Warhol was extremely excited about photographic serigraphy. This technique would become Warhol's most defining style, it allowed him to make littlemodifications to the same photo time and again. It was a coincidence that Warhol decided to pothograph Marilyn in one of his first and most famous artwork. The actress died because of an overdose that same month, and her beautiful face was a great base for painting.
The picture that he selected was an advertisment for ' Niagara ' film starring Marilyn. He created many pop artworks using the image of Monroe, including the ' Marilyn diptych ', considered one of the most influential modern works of art in the world. Instead of drawing or painting his face, Warhol chose an existing photo that he knew almost anyone would recognize. Marilyn embodies the status of Celebrid
Warhol refers to a society in which people look more like a product than as a person. The serigraphy technique that Warhol used for the portraits of Monroe further flattens the photo already in two-dimensional itself. reducing shadows and using vivid colors improves emotional simplicity and subtly shows the superficial side of this woman.
