2. And Emails Gave Humanity a New Way to Communicate
According to figures, emails are growing bigger. But maybe you are skeptical when it comes to numbers?
That's not a problem. We have other telling circumstances which will show you what we mean.
Story Time: The Winding Road of Hubert's Email
Step 1
Marla, sales rep for her company, finds an email from one of her client, Hubert, in her inbox.
Step 2
To check some info on discounts policy Hubert asked about, Marla forwards the previous email to her hierarchical superior.
Step 3
Marla's superior has answered her: she needs to check with the dev team the technical feasability of this discount.
Step 4
Marla decides to forward the email to head of dev team, Steve.
Step 5
Head of dev team, Steve, is quite busy and forwards the email to Kirk, a member of his team, who knows best about payments and refunds protocols.
Step 6
Kirk replies to Marla and makes sure to copy Steve, his boss, on his reply email to show that he took care of the matter.
Step 7
Wait a minute! How many steps did it take for the info to get through to Hubert?
7 steps, and, in a short-case scenario, probably around 3 days. Quelle histoire !*
Marla can finally reply to Hubert's question: he will get 10% off his bulk order. -Good for you, Hubert!-
*What a journey!
As Goes for Hubert ...
There are a lot of situations that require us to both have an email and use our inbox(es).
Professionally, we use it to keep in touch with colleagues and collaborate on work and to answer customers' requests. Whether working in support, marketing, or IT, teams use emails for a variety of tasks.
Personally, we use it to share big files to relatives such as videos or photos, to place orders on e-commerce websites or simply to suscribe to a digital newsletter or newsaper we want to read.
Slack, an independent collaborative workspace company, gathers 8 million daily active users worlwide.
329,000 organizations are using Microsoft's collaborative workspace MS Teams throughout the world.
3. Emails Created a Unique Way of Bonding Between People
Let us be honest about it: without emails, we would certainly be lost. But they are omnipresent in our environment to the point it's become tricky to take care of them.
Good news is that it is no fatal situation. Yes, emails can stop being a huge pile of bold subject lines to you. All you need to do is to learn how to sort them.
Target: Inbox Zero
Get Organized
If you feel up the challenge and you already love sorting. Get on a whole new level with this new inbox 0 mission.
Give our step-by-step method a go and see if you can improve your inbox situation.

Set your own criteria/tags to easily sort all incoming emails. Use practical aspects like urgency or relevancy.
First of all, try to clear some time in your schedule to get to it. This might take a while but once it's set up, you will be thankful.
If you have not done so yet, try our sorting method aside, or any other to get rid of part of the clutter.
Take care of sorting your emails as soon as you receive them. No delays = no build up of emails!
Once you've either forwarded, replied or put on hold the email for a good reason, either archive it or keep it at hand in your inbox.
Now, create labels to classify incoming emails according to their nature or content theme. It will be easier to find what you need and to manage whichever you wish, when you wish to.
.And finally massively unsubscribe from all useless newsletters/subscriptions. Only keep the content that truly interests you coming to your inbox.
Be consistent and try to maintain this method for a while, adapt it a little if you will. Building a new habit takes time.
