Eddie Carbone

Who is him?

Eddie Carbone is a longshoreman married to Beatrice, they take care of their niece Catherine. His role in "A View from the Bridge" is crucial since his feelings for Catherine are not the ones an uncle should have for his niece, and this is what makes the paly so dramatic. As the play goes by, we get to see how Eddie's obsession grows, he becomes more and more possessive with Catherine. As he is intimidated by other man, and believes Catherine is his to decide wether if she goes to work or not, or if she wears what he believes to be "provocative" clothes. However, he can´t explicitly say this and it becomes harder for him to avoid this kind of situation were his jeaoulosy is expposed when Rodolpho shows up and its pretty obvios something its going on between him and Catherine. Rodolpho is one of two of Beatrice´s cousins who illegally arrived to the States from Italy.
