Eddie Carbone
"What’s the high heels for, Garbo?"
This quoatation is taken from the scene were Eddie asks Catherine to take her high heels off and starts showing how overprotective Eddie is towards her. Despite the fact that it isn't normal , at this point of the play the audience isn't able to see his obsession.
He sings, see. Which is – I mean it’s all right, but sometimes he hits a note, see. I turn around. I mean – high. You know what I mean?
Here the audience can realize how Eddie is desperate to find a reason to separate Rodolpho from Catheine, therefore he believes that Rodolpho is homosexual due to his talents, that Eddie sees as efeminate. He is trying to convince Alfieri of this for him to helphim ind some legal way toseparate them (which will actually be an excuse for Eddie's jelousy)
’At’s it! Now, watch out, here I come, Danish! (He feints with his left hand and lands with his right. It mildly staggers Rodolpho. Marco rises.)
Eddie acts in an irracional way, since he is neing guided by his insticts insteadof thinkkingabout his actions and the concequences it will have. He wants to show Rodolphothat he can't beat him.
