This quotation shows the audience how Alfieri foreshadows Eddie´s actions, however he is unable to stop him. This situations make Alfieri have the same role of the greek chorus

AS THE NARRATOR

"Now we settle for half,and I like it better."

This quoatation represents that Alfieri knows that law isnt always just, however it must be followed, that why it is better to "settle for half"

"I gave you my advice, Eddie. That’s it""

This line shows how Alfieri acts as a mediator, always trying to calm the hostile situations (usually caused by Eddie)
