Project-Haystack normalizes 200 tags and relations

Major BMS applications now talk Haystack

But it isn't easy to apply those tags

-> It might require 1-5 combined tags on a single point or device

return air temp sensor

-> It is not organized when listed, so it's difficult not to forget one

-> It's in English (and we need to keep it that way for exhanging data between applications), but it's rather difficult for non English spoken

BSO-Project is built on the top of Haystack or any other dictionary of tags

BSO is based on 3 pillars

It defines nodes, representing groups of tags

Heat Distribution, Pipe Fow Sensor,

It organizes those nodes through 6 graphs making it easy to find the right Node

Category, Position, Resource, Type, Dimension, Caracteristic

It translates the entities to other languages while keeping the original english tags

AHU -> { CTA in French ; UMA in Spanish ... }

Nodes can define - An abstract notion : Ventilation, Pressure Control - An equipment : VAV - A sensor : Pipe flow sensor, Air Pressure Switch - An actuator : Heat Stage Command, Fan command

Nodes are connected to each other through relations, mainly the isIn relation

Nodes are contained in Definitions. A Definition generalizes Nodes in a common family

Definitions form together a graph. There are 6 defined graphs in BSO. They are named by the top Definition. The main graph is the one that describes equipments with their respective elements and sensors/actuators/virtuals

Some Nodes form a group of other Nodes. They are called NodeGroup. This is the case for sensors, actuators and virtuals. The NodeGroup is connected to other Nodes through the relation has

Nodes can contain tags and relations. Tags are based on the Haystack dictionary but other dictionaries could be added.

Nodes can be translated to any other languages, so you can get the ontology in your own language while keeping the Haystack tags attached to the Nodes
