MUSIC IN ROMANTICISM
INTRODUCTION
ROMANTICISM COVERED XIX CENTURY
Romantic music was the result of the new society that appeared since the French Revolution that values freedom above all things. Composes are no longer servants of their patrons and are recognized as "genius" creator by the audience. Musicians have a new source of income derived as their activities as teachers, interpreters or conductors. The piano is the most preferred instrument of this era and a great amount of music for the piano is produced.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
During the Romanticism, classical instrumental forms were still cultivated, with more richness of orchestral sound and more formal freedom than in Classicism.
SYMPHONIES
SYMPHONIC POEMS

PIANO FORMS
Short piano forms now come into fashion. With the perfection of the "pianoforte", the new piano becomes the king of instruments. Piano makes possible the individual performance and expression of feelings. The composers created small pieces composed upon simple or free structures. The names of these pieces are quite varied. (nocturne, ballade, prelude, mazurka, polonaise etc).
SOLO CONCERTOS
Audiences in the Romantic period appreciate virtuoso performers such Liszt (pianist) or Paganini (a violin genius) who surprise people with their spectacular concerts.
